Battle Buddies: Community Led Co-creation of a Successful SexEd Program for Black Gay Men
Description: Some LGBT sexuality professionals either attempt to be colorblind or over-focus on their clients/students' race as the most central aspect of who they are. Programs are implemented in ways that serve the staff and their culture, instead of the needs of participants. As a result, Black gay and bisexual men disengage in HIV/AIDS care because what they came for is not recognized or valued. This panel will discuss the successes and challenges of a community-led sexuality education co-development process.
Objective(s): At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: identify strategies for working with various stakeholders to produce effective sexuality education; Describe how to use multiple sources of data to inform the development of relevant educational materials.
