Interracial Open Relationships: How to Manage Jealousy and Promote Racial Sensitivity
Description: Open interracial relationships have unique challenges and insecurities. This session's design enhances clinicians' competency so they can work effectively with interracial consensual non-monogamous (CNM) clients and importantly address racial tension, jealousy, and other contributing factors to crisis in interracial CNM relationships. This session will particularly explore the following three challenges: 1) How to manage jealously 2) Racial fetishism and 3) Racial sensitivity. Objective: At the conclusion of this session participants will be able to identify at least three strategies for managing jealousy and identify also the effect of racism on interracial CNM.
Objective(s): At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: identify practical tools to help clients manage jealousy; identify racial tensions, racial biases, discrimination, and micro-aggressions in interracial consensual open relationships.
