Supporting Gold Star Families on Campus
Track: Higher Education
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is the national organization providing compassionate care for the families of America's fallen military heroes. TAPS provides peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, grief seminars and retreats for adults, 'Good Grief Camps' for children, casework assistance, connections to community-based care, and a 24/7 resource and information helpline for all who have been affected by a death in the Armed Forces. Services are provided to families at no cost to them. This session will provide information on resources available to surviving families on your campuses and how best to support them, as well as volunteer opportunities available to veterans to support Families of the Fallen.
