Michael G. Thomas Jr., AFC®, is a native of Gary, IN with a passion for service and community. He is currently in the final stages of completing his Ph.D. in Financial Planning at the University of Georgia. While at UGA, he has been involved in such endeavors such as co-creating programs like Money Dawgs (financial literacy camp for youth) and Discovering Money Solutions (financial literacy program for adults). More recently, Michael gave a TEDxUGA talk on "Financial Empathy: Exploring the Story Beneath the Numbers" and is the co-host of a NPR affiliate radio show - "Nothing Funny About Money". It is Michael's hope to utilize his passion for financial literacy and consumer advocacy as a way to empower families and strengthen communities.
