Title: (FTA Poster) Understanding Money Disorder and its Antecedents: A Qualitative Research on Korean Consumers

In this study, we applied a qualitative approach in order to examine the financial behaviors of the people with money disorder, their experiences and the development of such dysfunctional financial behaviors. Participants were recruited via online postings, were selected using a screening questionnaire. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews, and were analyzed by using grounded theory approach. The interviews yielded 24 sub-concepts, which were synthesized into 10 abstract concepts. Results were presented regarding dysfunctional financial behavior and its consequences, money beliefs and childhood experience, and influencing process of money beliefs and childhood experience on money disorder.
