Title: (FTA Session) Ethics and Standards of Practice in Financial Therapy
Monday, November 13th, 2017
This session will introduce attendees to the ethical and practice standards expected for financial therapists, as outlined by the FTA Board of Directors. This includes determining a scope of practice based on education and background, disclosure and informed consent process, the fiduciary rule, knowledge of complementary disciplines and services (financial counseling, financial planning, psychotherapy, etc.), how to appropriately refer to other professionals, identifying and handling "red flag" issues, as well as exploring ethically-challenging scenarios that may occur in financial therapy, and expectations for seeking consultation and help as a financial therapist.
