Title: (FTA Poster) Solution Focused Brief Therapy: Correlation with Financial Wellness
Tuesday, November 14th, 2017
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) was incorporated into financial counseling and planning sessions, using a quasi-experimental approach, to measure its correlation with financial wellness. Paired t-tests indicated that mean financial wellness differed before and after exposure to SFBT treatment; there was a positive correlation between SFBT and financial wellness. The study also tested whether within group variability in financial wellness changed between income populations: (a) less or equal to $30,000 USD, and (b) greater than $30,000 USD. Results showed the mean change in financial wellness was positively statistically significant within both populations. Implications for financial professionals and limitations are discussed.
