Matthew Brown joined Schultz & Williams, Washington, D.C., in 2008. He came to the firm with more than 20 years of communications, fundraising and strategic planning experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors.
During Matt's tenure at Schultz & Williams, he has served a diverse client base including work in the arts & culture, membership association, conservation, zoo and aquarium, museum, and education sectors. Among others, he has provided development and planning consulting services to the American Museum of Peace, the American Institute of Architects, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Utah's Hogle Zoo, the American Shakespeare Center, Prince George's African American Museum & Cultural Center, Howard County Arts Council, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, the Goddard Space Flight Center's Visitor's Center, the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Institute, Saint Francis University, Chimp Haven, Rock Creek Conservancy, among many others.
Prior to joining Schultz & Williams, Matt was chief development officer for the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). There, he created and directed the Alliance's first development department, managing annual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and sponsorship sales. Matt also spent eight years as director of external affairs at the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAAF) and worked for nearly ten years in the advertising business, managing TV, radio, print and new media advertising.
Matt holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from Boston College and studied physical anthropology at the graduate level at the University of Pittsburgh. He sits on the Boards of Maryland Art Place and Recovery Africa. Matt has also co-produced award-winning public television documentaries with Maryland Public Television, The New Jersey Networks and Great Museums Television.
