Brief Session Description: Come watch the Los Angeles Unified School District's Chief Academic Officer (CAO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) talk about their teams' roles and responsibilities in supporting teacher and student use of technology in the classroom. In this lighthearted session that delves into some heavy topics, the CAO and CIO will "translate" each other's terms, acronyms, and theories into words that everyone in the audience can understand. Although instructional staff and IT staff may at times speak different languages, they share the same goal of providing teachers and students with the best tools possible for 21st century learning. Successful implementation of educational technology at a school district requires authentic collaboration and a united vision and strategy between Instructional and IT teams, so learning how to "speak" to each other is one of the first keys for Instructional and IT teams to unlock the potential of educational technology.
