Brief Session Description: The disparity in home Internet service has led to the "homework gap." Many schools, government and other organizations around the country are working to find ways to close this homework gap. In California, the Imperial County Office of Education has set an ambitious goal. It is striving to ensure that every student in Imperial County is connected to the Internet while at home in addition to when they're at school. This goal is going to be possible in the near future. Infrastructure is currently being worked on to bring LTE connectivity to all Imperial County students. Come hear about how Imperial County, a rural county in California, is leveraging ownership of broadcast spectrum licenses in order to disseminate wireless Internet access to students beyond the classroom.
