Brief Session Description: A panel of educators from the Learning Studios network will discuss their experiences and learnings from the first phase of this global project taking place in 60 schools in 11 countries. This project leverages a facilitated online network to help teachers learn and collaborate as they guide their students in learning about media, design, and entrepreneurship. Teachers and students from diverse backgrounds and institutional contexts use these skills to engage in a social entrepreneurship challenge to design a product, service, or campaign to aid their local community. Along the way teachers and students overcome obstacles and discover insights about making and design as a tool for learning. Participants will leave this session with ideas - both pedagogical and technical - for connecting maker learning and global collaboration in their schools and with others.
