Digital Accessibility - What Education Leaders Need to Know
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM:
Room: Superior A
Format: Concurrent Session - 60 Minutes
Brief Session Description: Accessibility is a critical key to leverage the power of technology and provide equal educational opportunity for all students, particularly those with disabilities. This concept involves the design of web-based materials, devices, digital tools, and platforms that support equal access to educational content, services, and activities. Beyond the legal requirements to provide accessible content, learning materials that are inaccessible are limited in their ability to support diverse learning needs and students with disabilities, often requiring costly accommodations. Learn about the 2016 Accessibility Toolkit developed by the Center on Disability and Technology, in collaboration with CoSN that provides sensible solutions to establish a proactive approach to address this important issue. Hear about ways to make accessible technology and resources a state-and district-wide priority to ensure that all students, teachers, and parents can benefit from digital resources and tools.
