Brief Session Description: For K-12 IT departments and educators, the Internet of Things (IoT) is a key concern. Forward-looking school districts want to embrace IoT and reap the myriad of benefits it promises, from automating facilities and boosting security to improving classroom efficiencies and enhancing instruction. But, they must proceed cautiously and work harmoniously with IT to ensure success. In this session, Aruba's Dan Rivera will review the implications of IoT for school districts, exploring its various applications and discussing the concerns it raises for IT departments. He will also present a checklist of key steps and considerations for incorporating IoT in K-12 education, including security, ensuring the integrity of data and developing policies that encourage and support the adoption of IoT technologies in the classroom, as well as facility-wide. Attendees will leave the session with a greater understanding of how they can best prepare their network infrastructures to support IoT.
