May 2015, Jeanette-Page Hawkins, a lifelong resident of Essex County joined Essex County Administration as the Division Head of Essex County Division of Family Assistance and Benefits.

Jeanette Page-Hawkins has a long social service history of serving New Jersey's most vulnerable residents. She is noted for her advocacy for the homeless and poverty stricken. Jeanette has served on various task forces, advisory committees and boards on the national, state and local levels.

Prior to joining Essex County, Jeanette worked for the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services - Division of Family Development as Director. She also held another state position at the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) as the District Office Manager for the Plainfield Office.

Jeanette has worked within Essex County in non-profit agencies. During her Directorship with New Community Corporation of Newark, she was instrumental in developing the New Community Harmony House, a transitional homeless facility for 102 homeless families.
She served as Executive Director of Newark Emergency Services for Families. During her tenure she spearheaded the move of the agency into a multi services agency within a new human service facility.

Her academic experience includes being an Adjunct Professor for Essex County College and Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey.

Jeanette has received special recognition for her outstanding community service and professionalism. She has been the past recipient of - Who's Who Executives and Professionals; City News 100 Most Influential; New Jersey Black Child Development Institution; Montclair YWCA 50 Most Influential Women and National Alliance To End Homelessness Non-Profit Sector Award.

Jeanette is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority a community service organization.

Jeanette has a BA and Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. Further advanced education and training includes New Jersey Certified Public Management Program (105 credits) and Leadership New Jersey Fellow.

Jeanette believes in lifting those in need with dignity and respect.
