About Dr. DeMio: Dr. DeMio has been a physician for over 30 years, receiving his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to that he taught and worked in the organic chemistry laboratory at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is Board-certified in Emergency Medicine, including the treatment of patients presenting with illnesses in toxicology, and those of acute and chronic forms of infections and other illnesses in adults and children. He is trained in internal medicine and also in pathology and laboratory medicine (analysis of tissues and body fluids for the diagnosis of infections and the causes of diseases). He has extensive work in primary and acute care, along with the care of children and adults with neurocognitive disorders, autism and developmental disorders, neurodegenerative disorders, and many forms of debilitating illnesses. The overlap of many chronic diseases with Lyme, such as Autism, and other chronic immune and infectious disorders has led to the developments of treatments for many of these diseases. Much of his ongoing research and clinical work involve the immune system in chronic diseases. He is the chief medical office of the US Autism and Asperger association and founder of the American Medical Autism board. Dr. DeMio has dedicated his life to helping people through the care of his patients, and he and his staff feel that it is a privilege to do so.
