Theme 4 - Antibiotic Treatment: Short Term versus Long Term
Steven Phillips, M.D., a past president of ILADS who practices in Wilton, CT, is a Yale trained physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease and co-infections. He is well published in the medical literature on the topic of Lyme disease and has treated patients from virtually every state in the US and from over 20 countries. In practice since 1996, in addition to his patient care and research activities, he has provided expert testimony on Lyme disease at the request of the states of CT, NY, RI, and VT. He has lectured at numerous CME medical conferences for various medical societies and hospitals. He is also one of a handful of physicians from the United States invited to provide expert testimony at the IDSA Hearing in Washington, DC in 2009. His written testimony for that hearing is 81 pages long with 226 medical references, and remains to date, one of the most comprehensive reviews of the topic of chronic Lyme disease.
