Creating Dynamic Connections Using Mobile Devices and Social Media
Mobile devices and social media offer exciting ways to supplement and support hybrid and online learning. This presentation will demonstrate some uses of mobile devices to expand the classroom experience as well as Facebook, Twitter, polls, and surveys as an alternative interaction space for aspiring teachers and school administrators.

Dr. Teresa Cortez, The University of Texas at El Paso, Assistant Professor of Practice
Teresa Cortez has 27 years experience in education having taught in elementary/middle schools, and worked as director of assessment, accountability and research in Ysleta ISD in El Paso, TX. Currently, she directs the administrative principal internships at The University of Texas at El Paso where she also works with mentoring and preparing new teachers through professional development workshops and service learning.
Dr. Carolyn Awalt, The University of Texas at El Paso, LEAP Grant Technical Advisor
Carolyn Awalt is the Online Masters Advisor for the College of Education and an instructional design consultant to the Transition to Teaching Grant call Taking the LEAP at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She teaches online and face-to-face courses related to curriculum and instruction and instructional technologies. Carolyn has presented her work on mobile devices and online learning at a number of different conferences including the Texas Distance Learning Conference, the Innovations in Online Learning Conference (University of Texas System), and the Wisconsin Distance Learning Conference.
