Making Online Courses Accessible: Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
Federal regulations, Section 508 Refresh (WCAG2.0) require online content to be accessible. This Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) session will discuss how making simple adjustments in Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro can make documents in online courses accessible. Participants will practice styles, table headers, alternative text and saving accessible documents.

Dr. Jackie Luft, Texas Tech University Worldwide eLearning, Accessibility Specialist
Jackie L. Luft, Ed.D. is the Accessibility Specialist for Texas Tech Worldwide eLearning where she works with our instructional design team to ensure all our online courses are ADA complaint. Her experience before joining Texas Tech includes both public K-12 and higher education settings, including both face-to-face and online instruction, consultation and administration.
 
Dr. Kristina Mitchell, Texas Tech, Instructor - Political Science
Kristina Mitchell is an Instructor of Political Science at Texas Tech University. She received her B.A. from the University of North Texas (2006), her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas (2010; 2012). Her research interests include international trade disputes and the interaction of international organizations with the private sector. Her research has appeared in the Journal of World Trade. She teaches undergraduate courses in public policy, research methods, and international political economy. Dr. Mitchell also coordinates the online education program for the Department of Political Science and conducts research on online educational delivery practices.
