To "Discover Your Superhero Deep Down Inside You" presenters will identify the uniqueness of the student demographics and cultural aspects of a four-year Hispanic Serving Institution. The presentation aims to discuss the significance of teaching/engaging distance learners in diverse social work components to empower students to continue their educational prowess.

Dr. Taniko King-Jordan, Our Lady of the Lake University: Worden School of Social Services, Assistant Professor
Biographical Sketch: Dr. Taniko King-Jordan joined the Worden School of Social Services at Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas in August 2015. She served as a social worker for over 10-years to individuals and families in her home state of California. Dr. King-Jordan is no stranger to distance learning and would like to share her story.
 
Dr. Venus Tsui, Our Lady of the Lake University: Worden School of Social Services, Assistant Professor
Biographical Sketch: Assistant Professor of Social Work at Worden School of Social Service, Our Lady of the Lake University. Dr. Tsui teaches practice, research, and HBSE undergraduate and graduate courses. She has 14 years of cross-cultural clinical and community practice experiences working with children, youth and families, both in Texas and Hong Kong. Her practice and research interests include intimate partner abuse against men, domestic violence; child abuse and neglect; child welfare practice; marital relationships; mental health of ethnic minorities (especially Asian American and Hispanic/Latino/a populations); and provisions of culturally sensitive practice.
