Online Accessibility: History, Laws and Universal Design of Learning
Recent litigation encourages higher education to incorporate Universal Design of Learning (UDL) into online courses to ensure compliance with federal regulations pertaining to recent litigation. This collaborative session includes historical content, a review of lawsuits, OCR rulings, federal regulations with a round table discussion led by a panel of experts. The use of Universal Design will be discussed as well as practical presentations by vendors of various LMS, software, and assistive technology including hands-on assistance with making various content accessible. Jackie L. Luft, Ed.D. is the Accessibility Specialist for Texas Tech Worldwide eLearning where she works with our instructional design team to ensure all our online courses are ADA complaint. Her experience before joining Texas Tech includes both public K-12 and higher education settings, including both face-to-face and online instruction, consultation and administration.
