2016 TxDLA Conference

9:00 AM - 9:50 AM: Breakout Sessions
Reaching Beyond your Classroom Walls
Your classroom may be surrounded by walls, but it doesn't mean that you and your students are limited by them!! You can connect with experts globally while supporting and enhancing your lessons. Jan will interactively demonstrate how videoconferencing technology can be integrated into your lessons while introducing some curriculum-linked programs.

During the interaction, teachers will be introduced to the technology and how it can be used to support and enhance their lessons. They will be encouraged to share and discuss how they have used it or would like to use it, gaining ideas of how to blend videoconferencing into their lessons to encourage more communication and collaboration within the class.  Join Jan as she introduces you to Brad Tassell, author, historian and comedian! We will explore some curriculum-linked programs while sharing some successes and challenges of using technology. Brad will demonstrate his Presidential Poems in 2 Voices lesson. We'll explore together how students and teachers can be inspired to get outside and take a closer look at the natural world around them.
