Teaching and learning are no longer taking place in a "traditional" setting. Characteristics and expectations of students require a new approach to deliver teaching and learning resources and are no longer instructor-centric or one-size-fits-all. This presentation will expose the audience to a new digital architecture to re-imagine education.

Rita Vela, Blackboard, Customer Success Advocate
Rita Vela, is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Masters degree in Education, specializing in Instructional Technology. She was employed within the Distance Education department at South Texas College & The University of Texas - Pan American in several different capacities over the span of thirteen years. Her most recent role as Instructional Designer involved assisting faculty in developing fully online/hybrid courses. Rita is currently serving as a Customer Success Advocate with Blackboard. In this role, she is able to collaborate with several different institutions to apply her experience and assist in leveraging services and products for the success of the faculty and ultimately the students.
 
Mr. Edgar Gonzalez, Blackboard, Customer Success Advocate
Edgar Gonzalez holds a Masters degree in Educational Technology & Leadership as well as a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. This combination of disciplines has allowed Edgar the opportunity to experience different professional assignments that directly relate to incorporating technology into the teaching & learning environments. Edgar greatly enjoys being part of a team where he can contribute by providing leadership, service, consulting and collaboration in the development, implementation and functions related to e-learning and instructional technology. He has over 16 years of experience in this field holding positions such as System Integration Manager to Director of Distance Education. His current role as Customer Success Advocate at Blackboard has allowed Edgar to use his experience and knowledge to collaborate and support institutions to improve the quality of service and products that Blackboard has to offer for higher education.
