Creating an Effective Learning Environment by Engaging Online Learners
Student engagement and integration in online learning environments are key elements to student success. Educators must engage students early and often! It is critical to design courses that actively engage students and are learner-centered. Instructors can create a strong faculty presence, modeling an active, involved participant in the learning community.

Dr. Patti Huskin, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Assistant Professor
Patti Huskin is an Assistant Professor in Special Education at Texas A & M University, Kingsville. Although new to higher education, she has been teaching special education for more than 30 years. At the university level she teaches online and hybrid courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in special education teacher preparation.
