John Thompson, SVP & Creative Director, Russ Reid Co.
John is a 35-year veteran of direct response fundraising, joining Russ Reid in 2014 as Vice President/Creative Director, with creative oversight of all Russ Reid clients served from the Washington, DC office, including Paralyzed Veterans of America, The Nature Conservancy, Easter Seals, Defenders of Wildlife, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and others. John directs a creative team that executes strategic multi-channel solutions in direct mail, digital, telemarketing, DRTV and brand building. Before Russ Reid, John was VP Creative for Moore Direct Marketing driving new business opportunities for its subsidiaries. Prior to that he was VP Creative for Merkle, Inc., and oversaw multi-channel creative development for a diverse set of clients in Merkle's nonprofit vertical, including Feeding America, American Cancer Society, National Wildlife Federation, U.S. Olympic Committee, and others. From 1982-1999, John ran his own studio, Direct Design, Inc., providing creative services and solutions for a wide range of Washington, DC-based clients, and he began his career as an Art Director for the Richard A. Viguerie Company.
