Mr. Burchard joined Inova Health Foundation in September 2011 with 27 years of fundraising, marketing and communications experience, serving not-for-profit organizations in the United States and around the world. Prior to coming to Inova, Mr. Burchard was senior vice president for development and communications for Project HOPE, the People to People Health Foundation. He was responsible for revenue development, marketing, global communications and government relations. During his seven years with Project HOPE, the global health and humanitarian assistance nonprofit grew from a $120 million to $192 million and expanded the organizational footprint from 28 to 36 countries.
Prior to Mr. Burchard's global public health experience, he served as a vice president with Ketchum, a fundraising and communications agency. He was appointed the youngest member of the senior leadership team for the firm, as well as serving as a group leader within the healthcare practice. Some of his clients included the Adventist Health System, Catholic Healthcare West, Johnson & Johnson, Merck and Philips Medical System.
During his tenure with Project HOPE, Mr. Burchard traveled extensively in Africa, Europe, Haiti and Central America. Mr. Burchard resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife, Renee, daughter and two sons.
