Alison Wheeler, Senior Director of Communications and Marketing, SOS Children's Villages USA
Alison Oliveira Wheeler is the Senior Director, Marketing & Communications for SOS Children's Villages-USA. Alison is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with nearly 20 years of experience working in both the nonprofit and for-profit sector. She has managed across a variety of marketing disciplines and communication platforms and brings a strong background in strategic marketing, digital marketing, grassroots fundraising, omni channel marketing and campaign management.

Prior to SOS, Alison was a consultant with Impact Consulting, providing strategic marketing, communications and fundraising consulting and interim staffing solutions to iNGOs and NGOs. She led Women for Women International's marketing and communications department, an award-winning, $30 million dollar international nonprofit, providing women survivors of war with the tools to rebuild their lives. Her team delivered over 50% of organization's budget each year, responsible for direct marketing, digital marketing, corporate partnerships, brand management, communications.

Prior to Women for Women International, she was a Senior Brand Manager at AOL where she managed a $45 million dollar portfolio of online subscription services. She was responsible for identifying, developing and marketing new revenue-generating services.

She has held senior leadership positions with a publishing company in Eastern Europe, launching and marketing new and existing publishing products and managed an investment promotion campaign for the Government of Portugal, achieving investment pledges of $285 million. For a consumer goods company considering expansion into the Cuban market, she conducted consumer research and developed new market entry strategies.

She received her Master of Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California Los Angeles. She has also studied at Universitá di Padova in Italy and Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.

She lives in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and 2 children.
