Melissa is a pioneer in digital fundraising. She was among the first in the field to design multi-channel programs that skillfully integrate digital marketing, social media, direct mail, telemarketing, email marketing, DRTV, mobile technology and video to propel nonprofit organizations into new revenue-generating and communication programs and make them leaders in the mastery of new technology. Under her guidance clients such as National Geographic, World Food Program USA, National Association of Realtors, Heifer International, and Audubon of Florida, are raising money, increasing their members and supporters, advancing social causes and global missions, and leveraging new media opportunities in a spirit of innovation and with an eye to maximizing results.
Currently Melissa is the President of Breakthrough Strategies and our Digital Fundraising partner. Previously she served as Vice President of Consulting at Kintera, Inc., where she built integrated fundraising and marketing programs. Before that she was a Senior Strategist and Account Executive at Craver, Mathews, Smith, and Company, where she raised millions of dollars for nonprofit groups.
Melissa has also led fundraising efforts on the client side. She was Director of Development and Communications for the US Committee for Refugees, and built their first fundraising website in 1997. Previously she was a major gift officer at Common Cause. She started her fundraising and marketing career managing special events for Emory University.
She received her Bachelor's Degree from Emory University and a Masters from the University of Maryland.
