2:15 PM - 3:30 PM: Breakout 3
The Gift Planning Relationship: Are You Giving the Most You Can to Your Donors?
Do you approach all your donors the same way, or do you vary your relationship according to individual donors? In this interactive session, you'll learn how to assess your organization and your donors, and select those to whom you have more to give and who, in return, will give you more. You will be walked through the two primary approaches to relating and marketing to donors, a universal approach versus a gift planning approach. Then you'll be engaged by a panel discussion with non-PG development officers on how to successfully initiate gift planning discussions. This session is designed with you in mind, whether you work in planned giving every day or not.
Learning Outcome #1
By attending this session participants will learn: Recognize and distinguish between the commonly used major gifts approach and the "gift planning" approach.
Learning Outcome #2
By attending this session participants will learn: Determine which of those two approaches will be more beneficial to the donor, and thus more likely to result in the largest potential gift.
Learning Outcome #3
By attending this session participants will learn: Initiate gift planning discussions with donors who would benefit from the planning approach
