"It's a Family Affair" A Multigenerational Approach To Annual and Endowment Campaigns
Come to this session and learn from a million dollar campaign: A father-son campaign leadership team launched a multigenerational approach to giving in honor of United Way 100th anniversary. With an annual campaign goal of 11 million and an endowment goal of 5 million, a challenge grant of more than 1 million dollars was created. This money was raised through commitments from parents and adult children. The "Centennials" pledged half of their support to the annual fund drive and half to the endowment. This unique approach engaged the next generation of donors and included some families of three generations. Included in the promotional events were a pre-season NBA game, and a birthday bash at a historic mansion. This 1 million was matched with another million dollars of commitments to the endowment. This new generation of donors will now take the lead for recruitment and engagement of donors under the age of 40.
