Abstract of Session/Presentation: What would help you to integrate astronomy lessons into your classroom?

Astronomy is the only science of shared experience, and can serve as a great unifier of diverse backgrounds. Astronomy, along with the (and Earth sciences,) haves also been recently incorporated into NGSS standards across grade bands and content areas. Yet-many districts find this content irrelevant and extraneous. What would you need to incorporate lessons from space into your classroom?

Join the U.S. National Astronomy Education Coordination (NEAC) team for a rich discussion of best practice, opportunities, and current needs of formal educators. While the team will guide the discussion, this session will be primarily focused on sharing amongst participants. The NAEC team is interested in developing professional development programs and learning communities based upon feedback gathered from educators. Make your voice heard!
