Uniting NSF's Astronomy Nighttime Facilities Across the Globe
In October 2019 the consolidation of NSF's US ground-based nighttime astronomy programs began with the transition into NSF's NOIRLab. The facilities united under NOIRLab include the international Gemini Observatory, Kitt Peak National Observatory, Community Science and Data Center, Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) in Chile, and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory (once operational in about 2022). Among the first priorities in the transition to NOIRLab included the unification of Communications, Education and Engagement (CEE) into one effort spanning Hawai'i, Arizona, and Chile. In this presentation I will present an overview of the NOIRLab organization, the role of CEE in the new organization, current programming initiatives, and highlights from our plans and vision for the future.
