Engage and Educate: Using Strategic Questioning
Questions are arguably the most powerful tool we, as educators, have to engage with and educate our audiences. We often use questions in a variety of ways: to set expectations, gauge interest, and determine pre-conceptions, among other things. Questions are at the core of an interactive classroom or planetarium and are often used to engage. However, those questions can also be an effective way of teaching and helping our audiences/students retain more of what we do with them in the limited time we have. You may (or may not) have heard of formative assessment and strategic questioning before, but what does it really look like in practice? This workshop is meant to help you capitalize on the questioning you already do. Learn how to dig deeper and feel more comfortable and confident in asking critical questions and putting this teaching strategy to use.
