Lesli Creedon has served as president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic since February 2018. Her son Jack received his life-changing wish a few months later and attributes the wish to his recovery from leukemia. Make-A-Wish holds a special place in Lesli’s heart, whose vision is to grant the power of a wish to every eligible child in Maryland, northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining Make-A-Wish, Lesli served as the Chief Advancement Officer at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, where she led a $86 million campaign to fund new animal habitats, educational programs and global research and conservation initiatives. She also served as Executive Director of Partnership Development at the United Nations Foundation and Vice President of External Affairs at Resources for the Future, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to energy, environmental and natural resource issues in Washington, D.C. Ms. Creedon is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Sherry Hewitt joined Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic as VP of Operations & CFO in April 2013 and was promoted in April 2014 to Chief Operating Officer & CFO. She also served as Interim CEO in 2017 while the chapter searched for a new President & CEO. She is a member of the executive management team and oversees the Finance, IT, HR and Administration functions. Sherry has a long-standing history with the chapter as a Wish Granting volunteer for the chapter since May 2000.
Before Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic, Sherry spent more than 13 years with BOMI International, an adult education company in Annapolis, holding various positions including the position of COO & CFO for 7 years and served an interim Executive Director role while the organization searched for a new President & CEO. Prior to working for BOMI, Sherry held various Finance positions for medical management companies and physician practices. Sherry started her career as an Auditor with Deloitte in their Baltimore office in 1990.
Sherry is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Towson University. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs as well as the Maryland Association of CPAs. In June 2014, she received the TWIN award from the YMCA of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County. In June 2020, she completed the Leadership Anne Arundel Flagship program.
