Diversifying Your Donor Database

- Surveys reveal that donors of color perceive that they are invited less often than their White neighbors to attend fundraising events, and that they are asked less often to donate to nonprofits. LaKoya Rochell, an accomplished fundraiser who directs programs for the Mays Family Institute on Diverse Philanthropy at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, will describe practical strategies on how you can diversify your donor database while sharing knowledge with those who want to deepen their engagement with issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. Information will be provided surrounding donors of color giving mechanisms and what donors of color are giving toward. You will learn research-based knowledge that will help one expand the understanding of donors of color and other underrepresented donors to shift the narrative within philanthropy. You will also gain pertinent information surrounding what the current research findings are concerning Board Diversity, Crowdfunding, Global Philanthropy Tracker.
