3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Breakout 3
Traditional strategic planning, like so many organizational systems, has its roots in structural bias: created by those at the top of the organization, attempting to lay out a vision for 5, 10 or even 15 years in the future (with very little input or buy-in from those expected to execute it, or those most impacted by it). The reality is that in our world and organizational context is constantly changing. And, with a growing understanding of the importance of all voices not only giving input, but sharing in the power/decision-making process, new ways to approach organizational strategic planning are emerging. Join us as we talk through a framework that ensures these principles and practices are followed throughout the strategic planning process: Grounded and based in the community served by the organization (following Appreciative Inquiry/Community Interview process) · Equity framework/assessment at all stages of the process · Community centric fundraising principles · Shared power/decision making (not just diverse voices giving input, but making decisions)
