Estuary-Based Science Education Bringing Communities Together Around Kids and the Sea
Talk with SeaDoc Society about inspiring estuary-aware kids. We released a free curriculum on World Oceans Day. Kids work as nature detectives, alongside scientists and indigenous knowledge sharers, to solve mysteries in a local estuary, culminating in science-based recommendations for a community conservation project that they then put into action. As school districts implement this work, even amidst school closures, we are moved at the research, art, music, and presentations made to share their results. Join us as we explore pathways to share this curriculum model in estuary communities around the US. We humbly extend a special invitation to indigenous summit attendees, whose ancestral homes are estuaries, to join this virtual table.
