10:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Breakouts
Effectively leveraging integrated data systems is one of the many issues states must grapple with in implementing the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA). Many of the provisions of FFPSA require states to track and use data in new ways to implement the law with fidelity, avoid fraud, waste, and abuse, and, perhaps most importantly, help families safely remain together. This presentation will review FFPSA main reporting requirements (especially around prevention and child placement), explore why integrating data systems is important to the implementation, and highlight some of the major considerations for states. We will discuss the barriers states may face, such as privacy rules, and approaches to overcome those barriers. It will also outline opportunities states have for leveraging data and analytics to improve their services in new ways.
